Couples Counseling Across Washington

Trauma-informed telehealth support for couples seeking deeper connection, stronger communication, and meaningful repair.

Narrows Counseling provides private-pay couples counseling across Washington for couples who feel stuck in conflict, distance, mistrust, or painful patterns that keep repeating. Therapy is designed to help couples move beyond surface-level communication tools and toward deeper understanding, emotional safety, and lasting change.

When Couples Reach Out

Many couples come to counseling when they feel caught in the same arguments, disconnected from one another, or unsure how to move forward after hurt.

You may be at that point if:

  • communication turns into defensiveness, shutdown, or repeated conflict

  • you feel emotionally distant, disconnected, or alone in the relationship

  • trust has been strained by past hurt, betrayal, or unresolved pain

  • the same patterns keep repeating, even when you both want things to improve

  • outside stress, burnout, or past trauma is affecting your connection

  • you want support before problems become more deeply rooted

What Couples Counseling Can Help With

 Couples counseling can help you:

  • understand the deeper patterns driving conflict

  • improve communication without escalating

  • rebuild trust and emotional safety

  • strengthen connection and responsiveness

  • work through unresolved hurt with more clarity and care

  • create healthier ways of navigating difference, stress, and repair

This work is not about deciding who is right. It is about understanding what is happening beneath the surface and helping both partners move toward a healthier, more secure way of relating.

Our Approach

At Narrows Counseling, couples work is grounded in trauma-informed, relational, and evidence-based care.

Therapy may include:

  • emotionally focused work with couples

  • attachment-based and relational therapy

  • trauma-informed support when past wounds are affecting the relationship

  • nervous system-informed tools for regulation and repair

  • structured conversations that support clarity, accountability, and connection

This approach is especially helpful for couples who want more than communication tips alone and are ready to understand the emotional patterns shaping their relationship.

Who This Is For

Couples counseling may be a good fit if you:

  • want to improve communication and reduce repeated conflict

  • feel disconnected and want to rebuild closeness

  • are carrying unresolved hurt that keeps surfacing in the relationship

  • want to strengthen your relationship before things deteriorate further

  • are engaged or committed partners wanting a stronger foundation

  • are open to thoughtful, structured telehealth counseling

When Weekly Couples Therapy Is Not Enough

Some couples need more than weekly sessions to create momentum.

If you feel deeply stuck in conflict, disconnection, or trust injuries, a couples intensive may offer a more focused way forward. Intensives create space for deeper work in a structured format that allows more time for processing, repair, and movement than weekly therapy sometimes can.

Why Telehealth Works for Couples

Narrows Counseling offers couples therapy through secure telehealth across Washington.

Telehealth can make it easier for both partners to attend consistently, reduce travel and scheduling stress, and access specialized care even if you are not near a local office. For many couples, meeting from their own environment also supports greater privacy and flexibility.

Clinical Leadership

Narrows Counseling is led by Latisha Sternod, LMHC, a Brainspotting Consultant and Clinical Supervisor in Washington State.

Latisha’s work with couples is informed by clinical experience since 2018, broader psychology-related experience dating back to 2011, advanced trauma training, emotionally focused and attachment-based approaches, and her background providing clinical supervision and university-level teaching.

This experience brings depth, steadiness, and clinical discernment to the work with couples, especially when relationship distress is shaped by trauma, emotional reactivity, trust injuries, or long-standing patterns of disconnection.
